Production roles

Creative Producer: These are basically the directors of the radio. These are the the people that have a lot of responsibility they both talk to the client and find out what they want, but also discuss the prices with the client. They are also responsible for telling the team what the cliant wants and generally being the project manager of everything that goes on within his team. I would say the Creative Producer is the main organizer for the team.

Recording Engineer: These are the soldiers of the music editing world. these are the people operate the mixing boards and make use of the music library and do all the editing for the sound and mixing. They also talk to the Creative Producer to see if the sound for the ad is correct and if theirs anything else they need to add. They then transfer this information to the voice over artist, This is so the artist knows how to say certain things and how the music side of the ad is going to be happening.

Copy Writer: This job basically entails you to talk to the Creative Producer, this is because the Creative Producer will let you know how to write the script, such as informational or comical. They then will ask for the information about the client, like there name, slogan, contact info. The script then is given to the voice over artist. who reads the script to the Recording Engineer.

Voice Over Artist:There are 3 different types of voice of artists. These are use for different things, and to create different feels on the advert. These 3 different artists are:

Voice actors:

    • Most used for adverts.
    • these are professional actors.
    • Found by there agents or on a website.
you can find many different types of voice actors, this is because the client want 17 year old, Indian, Female. This could be to give to advert a specified feel to it. The different types of voice actors can be found using there agents. a great page for this is http://www.thevoiceovergallery.co.uk/. The voice actor, once chosen will arrive at the studio, and read the script, whilst the Creative Producer tell him or her how to to say specific words.

Celebrity Voice over:
  • Used to attract the audience.
  • Costs more
  • They also get contacted through there clients.

Session Vocalist: you would contact these if you needed the odd jingle being sung in your ad. These are basically used for singing back up, or the slogan.
